Providence school hosts ?Language Roadmap

PROVIDENCE – Business, education and government leaders are studying the benefits of dual-language programs in preparing tomorrow’s workers.
The French-American School of Rhode Island (FASRI) on Jan. 26 hosted the first working-group meeting of the Rhode Island Language Roadmap process.
The group will be studying ideas to meet the demands for languages in the state. Business leaders and government and state agencies have expressed frustration at the lack of language skills in the state.
FASRI Head of School Dominique Velociter in a release said, “Dual-language programs … have to be a part of the solution. At FASRI, our students learn French through the immersion process. For example, learning math in French teaches them mathematical concepts and the French language at the same time. It is a very efficient way to learn and I believe it is the way of the future.” &#8226
