Putting its purpose to a healthy practice

Helping companies and organizations improve the health and well-being of their employees is the core mission of Coventry-based Preventure. So to do anything less for its own workforce would “seem shallow,” said Cindy Scibetta-Butts, director of people services.

“We live out the mission of the company,” she said. “It’s really important that we practice what we preach.”

Preventure’s internal Fit for Life program serves as a trial ground of sorts for the wellness initiatives it customizes for its diverse array of clients. Focusing on the whole self, the program rewards employees up to $350 a year for completing health assessments, biometric screenings, and at least one company-sponsored activity – from personal coaching, to online workshops, to various challenges.

Preventure has consistently seen a 90 percent participation rate in Fit for Life. One-third of employees have gone beyond that, completing more than one activity without being rewarded.

“We’re seeing a move toward people participating just for the joy of participating,” said Scibetta-Butts. n
