Quality Partners of Rhode Island changes its name

PROVIDENCE – Quality Partners of Rhode Island has changed is name to Healthcentric Advisors, in an attempt to better align the organization’s brand and reputation in the national marketplace.

The name change, announced on Sept. 20, takes effect immediately.

Founded in 1995, Quality Partners of Rhode Island began as a Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Rhode Island. The change in name to Healthcentric Advisors – and the repositioning of its brand in the marketplace – seeks to take advantage of the organization’s expanding national customer base outside Rhode Island.

“As we looked to our future, it became clear that the name that has served us so well for years would no longer be a viable asset,” said John Keimig, Healthcentric Advisors’ CEO. “So our board made the strategic decision to pursue a new name and positioning.”

Healthcentric Advisors was chosen as the new name because it presents the person-centered focus of the organization’s mission in a clear, direct manner, according to Keimig. “Healthcentric is unique and memorable name,” he said.

When asked about the decision to drop “quality” from the organization’s name, Keimig told Providence Business News that the re-branding was about the organization looking forward, and positioning itself for the future. “The spectrum of our services have significantly broadened beyond just health care quality,” he said, adding that the positioning line, “Advancing Healthcare Quality,” allows the organization to reinforce that quality improvement is still an important element of what they do.

Among the ongoing initiatives that Healthcentric Advisors continues to work on are contract work with the Rhode Island Quality Institute to speed the adoption of currentcare with nursing homes in Rhode Island and its ongoing Rhode Island ICU Collaborative to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes for adult intensive care unit patients.

The organization recently published a study demonstrating the effectiveness of its Care Transitions Intervention, providing coaching to Medicare patients in a successful effort to reduce costly re-admissions to hospitals.
