There are few sectors that evolve more rapidly than technology, and B2BGateway.net’s experience is no exception. The company provides businesses with electronic data interchange services, a process that involves compiling data such as purchase orders, shipping notices and invoices, then reformatting it and sending it to another organization.

Eight years ago, the company had six staff members in its Hopkinton office. Today, it employs nearly 70. And the company now boasts offices across the United States, as well as in Ireland, Australia, and soon, China.

“We’re moving toward being a global company,” said Louisa Gooding, B2BGateway’s director of sales and strategic relationships.

Gooding credits the company’s customer service as key to distinguishing it from its competitors. “We listen to our customers’ business needs,” she said. “The way we build our technology, we are nimble. We can make changes on the fly.”

The company soon will become even more advanced in that department. B2BGateway’s servers are currently housed in Boston, but the company is in the process of building a larger server farm in Rhode Island. The new farm will allow for easier maintenance as well as superior service. “We’ll be able to process data faster,” said Gooding, “which is key in our industry.” •
