One local real estate agent recently raised more than $4,000 for Hasbro Childrenâ€™s Hospital after hosting a disco-themed bash at his home in Coventry.
Instead of throwing a typical neighborhood block party, Mike DeCosta of RE/MAX 1st Choice in Cranston opted to host a fundraiser complete with traditional disco garb and an oversized disco ball.
More than 150 friends and neighbors attended the event, which included dancing, refreshments and a raffle. DeCostaâ€™s 7-year-old daughter and her friends also pitched in by holding a bake sale.
The party raised a total of $4,154 that will benefit the Childrenâ€™s Miracle Network at Hasbro. DeCosta, who originally hoped to raise $2,500, said planning for next yearâ€™s event is already underway.
