One local real estate agent recently raised more than $4,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital after hosting a disco-themed bash at his home in Coventry.
Instead of throwing a typical neighborhood block party, Mike DeCosta of RE/MAX 1st Choice in Cranston opted to host a fundraiser complete with traditional disco garb and an oversized disco ball.
More than 150 friends and neighbors attended the event, which included dancing, refreshments and a raffle. DeCosta’s 7-year-old daughter and her friends also pitched in by holding a bake sale.
The party raised a total of $4,154 that will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network at Hasbro. DeCosta, who originally hoped to raise $2,500, said planning for next year’s event is already underway.
“We are extremely proud of Mark and everyone at RE/MAX 1st Choice who helped create this fundraiser,” said Dan Breault, executive vice president and regional director of RE/MAX of New England. “At RE/MAX, we are strong proponents of giving back and are so proud to have our people support great organizations like Hasbro Children’s Hospital.”
