R.I. Black Business Association names business award winners

THE RHODE ISLAND BLACK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION will name the winners of its 2015 Awards at its Oct. 2 gala.
THE RHODE ISLAND BLACK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION will name the winners of its 2015 Awards at its Oct. 2 gala.

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Black Business Association has named five recipients of its 2015 Business Awards Program, who will be recognized in October at a gala at the Omni Providence Hotel.
The association awards are designed to recognize the achievements of exceptional leaders, who display excellence in their fields, leadership, business growth and service to community, according to a news release.
The recipients are:

  • D’Von Myles, president of Atlantis Comfort Systems Corp. George T. Downing Business Leadership Award.
  • Raphael O. Okelola, president and managing partner of Roplab IT Solutions LLC, the Allen Brothers Business Award.
  • Frank Ankoma, owner of Copa Menswear, Isaac Rice Entrepreneurship Award.
  • Henrietta White-Holder, founder and executive director of Higher Ground International Inc., Christiana Bannister Community Service Award.
  • Cynthia Scott, vice president at Rhode Island Black Business Association, Member of the Year.

The awards gala, to be held Oct. 2, will feature a keynote address by R.I. Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor.
