R.I. Capitol TV praised for work

PROVIDENCE – A national magazine dedicated to video professionals in public service has praised R.I. Island Capitol Television’s aim to increase transparency, designating it the “Government Video Website of the Week.”
Government Video magazine is a resource for video, audio and multimedia technologies related to taxpayer-funded projects and government grants. Each week, the magazine chooses a government website to highlight innovation and changes in how local, state and federal governments use technology to interact with constituents and the media.
The magazine highlighted Capitol TV’s diverse queue of available Web videos, including House and Senate sessions, committee hearings, press conferences and special events. Capitol TV currently has the capability to live-stream up to four legislative events simultaneously. Video footage of the events – which includes press conferences, committee hearings and sessions – allows members of the public and the press to connect with the issues confronting the R.I. General Assembly, Government Video said.
The live-streaming and archive capabilities also allow viewers to take a peek into the lives of their senators and representatives, from “Capitol Spotlight” segments to various special events held at the Statehouse.
