PROVIDENCE – The Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival Film Forum, hosted by Steven Feinberg, executive director of the Rhode Island Film & Television Office, and J. Scott Oberacker, RIIFF educational outreach director, took place Thursday at Providence’s Biltmore Hotel Ballroom.

During the forum, actress Karen Allen, best known for her roles in Animal House and Raiders of the Lost Ark, was presented the Creative Vision Award.

The semi-annual Creative Vision Award is given by RIIFF to outstanding actors, writers, film talent and those who have made significant contributions to the art of filmmaking. Past recipients include actor Ioan Gruffudd, actress Blythe Danner and publisher Carol Patton.

The day-long event featured two question and answer panels with Allen, moderated by Feinberg and Joan Anderson, author of “A Year by the Sea.” Allen stars in the film adaptation of Anderson’s book, which will screen at RIIFF on Aug. 14 at 4:45 p.m. in Metcalf Auditorium at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.
