Local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees delivered nearly 3,000 pounds of food and 1,000 pounds of coffee to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank recently.
The donations were the result of the company’s fall food drive held last month, which encouraged patrons to donate nonperishable food items to local food pantries. As a thank you for their contribution, guests received a $1 coupon towards beverage purchases.
The food will be utilized by pantries throughout Rhode Island.
“We are extremely grateful to our guests for supporting what we hope will become an annual tradition. We hope this contribution will help our neighbors have a delicious holiday meal this year,” said Guido Petrosinelli, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee.
Approximately 100 locations throughout Rhode Island and Bristol County participated in the food drive. Dunkin’ Donuts has made donations to the food bank in the past, most recently a $5,000 grant earlier this year. Additionally, the Rhode Island franchisees along with Dunkin’s local corporate representatives and partners set aside a day every year around the holidays to volunteer at the food bank, sorting food.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank provides food to people in need through its network of more than 250 member agency food programs across the state. •
