R.I. Foundation announce fellowship deadline

PROVIDENCE – Anyone with a big idea for positive change in Rhode Island has until Dec. 13 to apply to the Rhode Island Foundation for the 2014 Rhode Island Innovation Fellowships.
Two applicants will receive up to $300,000 over three years to develop, test and implement innovative ideas that have the potential to dramatically improve any area of life in Rhode Island. This is the third year that philanthropists Letitia and John Carter have funded the initiative.
Previous recipients include Soren Ryherd, who created three online retail businesses retailprojectri.com), and Dr. Lynn Taylor, who has launched a public-awareness campaign (ridefeatshepc.com) to eradicate hepatitis C in Rhode Island.
The one-page application and answers to frequently asked questions are posted at www.rifoundation.org/innovation. The 2014 recipients are expected to be announced in April.
The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island.
