PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Monthly Communications Inc. received a Gold Award for its Insiders Guide to Rhode Island interactive mobile Web application at the City & Regional Magazine Association’s National Conference.
The Gold Award signifies those publications that were “best in the nation,” according to a release from Rhode Island Monthly.
Launched in 2012 in conjunction with Warwick-based Brave River Solutions, the application was designed to allow visitors and Rhode Islanders alike access to volumes of information about area-restaurants, events and shopping.
The Insiders Guide is accessible on smartphones, tablets or laptops at no cost by visiting GuideRI.com.
“Winning a Gold Award against such larger magazines, who are part of corporate entities, is indeed gratifying,” Publisher and Owner John Palumbo said in prepared remarks. “Our team worked diligently with Brave River for over a year in tweaking this application and it’s something we’re still doing to this day. It’s nice to see that we were recognized for putting in the extra effort on this one”.
The magazine was also recognized for its monthly e-newsletter, The Dish, which won an honorable mention in the competitive category
