PROVIDENCE – The Statehouse is now offering Wi-Fi access to public and the media, a news release announced Feb. 29.
Wi-Fi is available in the House and Senate chambers and galleries, committee rooms and in the hallways outside of those areas; the network is rilin_public.
“We’re delighted that the General Assembly is making these improvements to make the people’s house a more transparent and open place for citizens who want to follow their government,” said John Marion, executive director of Common Cause Rhode Island.
There is also be “significant” upgrades to the legislative website in the “next several months,” including video of floors sessions and hearings, and improved bill-tracking functions, the news release said.
