PROVIDENCE – Most of the state’s Treasury offices will move from Providence to Warwick effective Dec. 5.

The division of Unclaimed Property, Investment and Cash Management; the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program; and the Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island will move from their current location in Providence – 40 Fountain St. – to 50 Service Ave in Warwick.

The move should save the state about $450,000 in annual expenses and rent, a news release said. The Treasury committed to moving its division under Treasurer Frank Caprio’s administration.

“Moving the majority of Treasury divisions to this state-owned facility will help streamline operations and allow staff to serve constituents more efficiently and effectively,” said Raimondo in a news release Wednesday.

“Better [free] parking, easy highway access and improved meeting space are all positive changes that should enhance the public’s interaction with Treasury.”

The online system for the Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island will be unavailable as of Nov. 30 until Dec. 5, and the division’s staff will be unable to receive email or voice mail. Pension payroll payments will be made as regularly scheduled, Raimondo said.
