WARWICK – A locally based cancer research organization has issued its first research grant.
The group, the Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation, awarded Dr. Carlos Minacapelli of the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnston Medical School funding to examine acid reflux disease. Acid reflux disease is a primary risk factor for esophageal cancer.
Currently, there is no routine screening developed to detect esophageal cancer in its earliest stages.
