R.I. company recalls salami products

BURRILLVILLE – Gourmet foods producer Daniele Inc. voluntarily recalled items containing salami products, the company said last month.
The company said that the recall was due to a “possibly related illness,” The Associated Press reported. Eleven people became ill who consumed salami products contained in “Daniele Italian Brand Gourmet Pack,” by Daniele Inc. However, officials have not yet established a connection between the illnesses and any Daniele product.
The R.I. Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that the local food plant was meeting all food-safety regulations, the release said.
The company said anyone who has purchased the products may return them for a full refund.
“Our family business has been producing premium gourmet products for over 60 years. While we conduct further tests, our goal right now is to take prudent, proactive measures to do everything possible to remove any products that do not meet our high standards for quality and taste,” Vice President of Sales Davide Dukcevich said in a statement. &#8226
