R.I. gas prices over $2 mark, AAA says

PROVIDENCE – Ocean State gasoline prices are now more than $2 for the first time since early January, AAA Northeast said Monday.
Rhode Island gasoline prices have increased for five consecutive weeks, with self-serve, regular unleaded now averaging $2.05 per gallon, 5 cents more than last week, AAA said.
Over the last five weeks, prices have risen 30 cents per gallon, AAA said.
Rhode Island’s price is 2 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.07. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 32 cents higher at $2.37.
Prices in the Ocean State range from $1.95 to $2.29, with midgrade unleaded at $2.29; premium unleaded at $2.48; and diesel, $2.14.
Gasoline prices in Massachusetts also are higher for the fifth week in a row, and are at the highest point this year, but still below $2.
AAA said that in Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $1.99 per gallon, 2 cents higher than last week and 30 cents higher than five weeks ago. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was 35 cents higher at $2.34.
In the Bay State, midgrade unleaded is averaging $2.23; premium unleaded, $2.41; and diesel, $2.16.
