PROVIDENCE – Two Rhode Island commissions are looking for ways the state’s municipalities could save money by pooling resources, Boston.com reported.
One panel is looking at whether cities and towns could merge emergency dispatch services while the other considers combining municipal tax collection operations. The goal of both moves would be saving money in municipal budgets.
The groups, made up of residents, local officials and business owners, first met last week. They are expected to report back to state lawmakers with their findings.
