R.I. third worst for doctors, study finds

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island came in third worst in a WalletHub study to find the best and worst states for doctors. The poor showing was due to high competition and highest malpractice awards per capita, among other factors.

Rhode Island ranked 49th on the list, above only New York and Washington, D.C.

In the opportunity and competition subcategory, the Ocean State was second to last.

Mississippi was the top state for doctors.
