SANTA ANA, Calif. — Rhode Island College, the University of Rhode Island and Brown University have been recognized for their master’s degree programs on MastersDegreeOnline.org’s annual list of best colleges for master’s programs.

Rhode Island College appeared on the list twice – for English and counseling – receiving the most mentions out of any of the Ocean State colleges.

The University of Rhode Island and Brown University each appeared once for their master’s programs in special education and computer science, respectively.

Describing itself as a leading research tool for prospective and current graduate students, MastersDegreeOnline.org provides information on graduate education programs both online and on-campus.

“Many different careers and fields can benefit heavily from having a master’s degree. That is why the 2013-2014 list of top master’s degree programs was conceived,” the Website said in a press release.

Its 2013-14 list of best master’s programs covered 13 categories: computer science, counseling, English, economics, finance, health administration, history, marketing, psychology, public administration, public health, social work and special education.

The online resource selected master’s programs in each category based on a wide range of criteria that included classes offered, program size, number of faculty and tuition costs, though the Website chose not to rank programs within categories, as “each program has their own unique strengths and to rank each program would be a disservice as the most important needs of one student may not necessarily be the same needs of another.”

The 2013-14 list of best college master’s programs can be viewed by clicking here. Each category contains a list to its individual page at MastersDegreeOnline.org with additional information about considerations such as specialization, research opportunities and funding and awards.
