RIC partnering on new nursing master’s program

Rhode Island College School of Nursing and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia are jointly offering a Master of Science in Nursing with a nurse anesthesia option at Rhode Island College.
Graduates of the schools will be eligible to take the National Certification Examination required for licensure as a certified, registered nurse anesthetist, who typically has at least two years of extensive training in anesthesia. In Rhode Island, they are able to provide anesthesia in collaboration with medical doctors in any medical setting in which anesthesia is delivered.
The program will begin in summer 2014, and a maximum of 10 students will be admitted each year. Applications are due by Feb. 15.
The RIC School of Nursing also offers a baccalaureate nursing program and MSN programs in adult/gerontology with an acute-care emphasis, nurse anesthesia and public health/community leadership. •
