PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island College Design, Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing Center will offer tours and demonstrations of manufacturing systems in celebration of Rhode Island Manufacturing Week.

Tours and demonstrations will be offered on Sept. 29 from 12:30-5 p.m. at Whipple Hall, room 101, 600 Mt. Pleasant Ave. Co-sponsored by the college and the Rhode Island STEM Center, the free event is open to the public.

“Businesses and industries will get to know what’s happening in manufacturing education at RIC and will have the opportunity to take a look at the type of high-end equipment we have in our lab,” RIC Professor of Technology Education Charles McLaughlin said in a statement.
That equipment includes robotics arms, 3D printing, laser cutting and more.

“These demonstrations are a great STEM teaching tool that will engage middle and high school students,” STEM Center Director Carol Giuriceo said, adding that Central Falls and Mount Pleasant High School students will be among the attendees.
