RIPEC meets, elects officers

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council elected council officers, directors and trustees at its 71st annual meeting on Monday at the R.I. Convention Center.
Robert A. DiMuccio, president and CEO of Amica, was re-elected RIPEC’s president; James H. Hahn, partner, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP, was re-elected secretary; and Sean Lynch, office managing partner – Providence, Ernst & Young, was re-elected treasurer.
Newly elected directors are: Jean Eddy, chief operating officer, Rhode Island School of Design; P. Kevin Peppe, vice president, Seapower Capability Systems, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems; and Mim L. Runey, Providence campus president and chief operating officer, Johnson & Wales University.
Directors that were re-elected include: Peter T. Bowman, vice president of government affairs, Verizon Communications; Peter C. Hayes, Cushman & Wakefield/Hayes & Sherry; Ronald K. Machtley, president, Bryant University; Robert M. Nelson, executive vice president and chief compliance officer, Citizens Financial Group; Patrick A. Rogers, partner, Hinckley Allen & Snyder LLP; and Gregory A. Woods, president and CEO, Astro-Med Inc.
Peter M. Marino, president and CEO of Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, was elected as a trustee.

The keynote address for the meeting was delivered by Ezra Klein, editor-in-chief of Vox.com, and attendees heard remarks from Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts, Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed and House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello.

The council also honored this year’s public service award winners: Jeanne Boyle, director of planning and development for East Providence, and Tom Mullaney, director of the R.I. Office of Management and Budget.
Paula Twidale, Public Service Award Selection Committee chairwoman said in a statement, “This year’s nominees are true examples of what it means to work in public service. We are proud to be able to honor them as a part of this year’s annual meeting.”

In addition, directors and trustees approved the organization’s operating program for the next two years. It will focus on economic development and the business climate; education and workforce development; and state and local fiscal policy.
