During an opening celebration Thursday, The Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design will present a new exhibit, “RISD Business: Sassy Signs and Sculptures,” by artist Alejandro Diaz. Diaz, who will be present during the celebration, has displayed his text-based pieces and installations that use language as a form of cultural critique and resistance. In addition to a life-size model of his aunt, included in Diaz’s exhibit is a series of cardboard signs, which he will make and sell during Thursday’s celebration for $20 each.
