RISD art finalist in national competition

PROVIDENCE – “Link House,” artwork by Bo Yoon (Christina) Chang, a senior at Rhode Island School of Design, is one of nine finalists in a new-media art competition sponsored by LG Electronics USA.
Three hundred entries from the country’s top art schools competed in the contest, “The Art of the Pixel: Powered by LG Ultra HD 4K and OLED TV.”
Judging included a scoring process used by LG experts and digital artist Mark Tribe, as well as an online popular vote.
In addition to a grand prize winner, LG will name one runner-up student and award a total of $100,000 in school grants.
Other winners included: Behrouz Raei, “Hide and Seek,” California Institute of the Arts; Dohee Yang, “Journey,” Laguna College of Art and Design; Sara Hill, “Separation,” Maryland Institute College of Art; John Summerson, “Painting From Life,” Pacific Northwest College of Art; An Li, “A Night At the Parkway,” Parsons, The New School for Design; Joseph Bui, “110 Fathoms,” Pratt Institute; Maya Smira, “Borderline,” San Francisco Art Institute; and Daniel Barreto, “Au Courant,” School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. •
