Rabbitt recognized by ISTE chapter

EAST GREENWICH – The director of technology for Newport Public Schools, Lee Rabbitt, received recognition from the International Society of Technology in Education.

Rabbitt was honored while attending the Rhode Island chapter meeting of ISTE on Jan. 4 with the “Making IT Happen” jacket for her “contributions to the successful integration of technology in education in K-12 schools,” a news release said.

Rabbitt has been in the educational technology field in Rhode Island for more than 20 years; she serves on the R.I. Department of Education data team, which is responsible for “navigating the intensive system and data requirements associated with successful implementation of the $75 million federal Race to the Top grant.” She also serves as the R.I. Lead Education Agency representative on the National Center for Education Statistics National Forum.

The Making IT Happen program was founded in 1995 has its honorees include legislators, governors and even the former Secretary of Education Richard Riley.
