PROVIDENCE – Gov.-elect Gina M. Raimondo has announced the formation of the Raimondo Inaugural Committee.
Made up of elected officials and community, labor and business leaders, the Inaugural Committee will help ensure that the inauguration is a celebration of Rhode Island’s strengths.
“Rhode Island is ready for a comeback and I’m proud to have this talented team providing input and guidance for how best to champion our great state,” Raimondo said in a statement. “They will work hard over the next few weeks to ensure an inauguration that is open, inclusive and showcases some of the best Rhode Island has to offer.”
The committee is comprised of: Ingrid Ardaya, Jackie Baginski, Charles Caranda, Johnnie Chace, Roy Coulombe, David Dadekian, Central Falls Mayor James A. Diossa, Ed Galvin, Sen. Maryellen Goodwin, Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien, Martha Holt Castle, Steve Hourahan, Rep. Cale Keable, North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi, Caren Mendez, Joan Panichas Milas, Tony Nobrega, Rep. Robert D. Phillips, Elaine Prior, Isadore Ramos, Rep. Deborah Ruggiero, GTECH chairman Donald R. Sweitzer, Bill Vareika and Mark Weiner.
Weiner, Chace and Sweitzer are co-chairs.
In other news, Raimondo said she will convene a Transition Policy Summit with “more than 80 Rhode Island thought leaders” on Dec. 16 to identify strategies to create a stronger economy and rebuild the middle class.
“Rhode Island is in a jobs crisis and my first priority as governor is to create a plan that will grow jobs,” Raimondo said. “This summit will provide me with an opportunity to get ideas and direct feedback from Rhode Islanders on the front lines of policy, business, labor, social service and innovation. I am excited about the opportunity to tap into this wealth of knowledge and build a plan that will help get Rhode Islanders back to work.”
The Transition Policy Summit will be held at the Transition headquarters in Providence.
