PROVIDENCE – Gov. Gina M. Raimondo is expected to welcome new employees of GE Digital today during a roundtable discussion that will highlight how the company is prioritizing hiring Rhode Islanders and how TechHire is helping to place tech workers in jobs like these.
Raimondo will be joined by GE Digital’s Chief Technology Officer of Digital Workplace Technology Jeff Monaco, Director of TechHire Rhode Island Damian Ewens and R.I. Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor during the 2 p.m. discussion at GE Digital’s temporary office at 10 Dorrance St., Suite 700. She also will hear from two recently hired GE Digital employees.

According to information from the governor’s office, GE has made 12 new hires for its Providence location. Nine are from Rhode Island, and three will relocate to Providence to accept this position.
TechHire is working with GE Digital and other Rhode Island companies to help source overlooked or underrepresented candidates for these typically high-wage tech positions.
The TechHire initiative is part of the governor’s job skills agenda to train Rhode Islanders so that they can join the technology sector.
GE announced in June its plan to open an information technology center that will develop new software applications and focus on high-performance computing. It said it planned to hire approximately 100 employees to start.
