Why did you select your profession?
I did not want to be viewed as being “on the sidelines complaining.” Municipal government, just like any other business entity, requires qualified and talented professionals.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
It is important that I expand my responsibilities to have a more positive impact on municipal government in Rhode Island.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
It is important to be able to wake up and be happy about where you go to work.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?
Challenges happen for a reason that is not always evident at first. Keep your head up and continue to work hard.

How do you keep a work-life balance?
The balance in my work and life would not be possible without the help of my parents. The extra value is that our children have a deeper relationship with their grandparents.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?
I wish that I had sought out the opportunity to work in municipal government earlier in my career.
