Real Jobs RI grant recipients announced by Raimondo

PROVIDENCE – Twenty-six Real Jobs RI grant recipients were announced last week by Gov. Gina M. Raimondo.

The workforce-training partnerships, available through the state Department of Labor and Training, span more than 10 sectors; recipients will split approximately $5 million in federal and state funding to implement job-training plans and fill immediate vacancies, according to the governor’s office.

“This demand-driven program is part of our strategy to reinvigorate the economy to make sure we are training people for jobs that are open now,” Raimondo said in a statement.

Partnerships are with: The Education Exchange, aquaculture; Claflin Medical Equipment and MedMates, bioscience; Rhode Island Builders Association, The Providence Plan, West Elmwood Housing Development Corp. and United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 51, construction; General Dynamics Electric Boat and Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance, defense; DESIGNxRI, design; Independent Insurance Agents of RI and Rhode Island Bankers Association, finance and insurance; Saint Antoine Residence, UNAP RIG Education Fund and Rhode Island College, health care; Rhode Island Hospitality Association, hospitality; Tech Collective and LaunchCode, information technology; Toray Plastics (America) Inc., Hyman Brickle & Son Inc. and Polaris MEP, manufacturing; Rhode Island Marine Trades Association, marine trades; and OIC of Rhode Island Inc., Man Up Inc., Connecting for Children and Families and Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, regional organizations. •
