Realtors’ golf tournament raises $22K for charities

The Greater Providence Board of Realtors distributed $22,000 raised at its 19th annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston to four local charities on Sept. 16.
The charities, which all received equal amounts of $5,500 each, included Hasbro Children’s Hospital Child Life Program, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center and the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Golf Tournament Co-chairman Karl Martone of RE/MAX Properties in Smithfield thanked the volunteers and sponsors who made the event possible.
“On behalf of the Greater Providence Board of Realtors, we are very pleased to contribute to these remarkable charities that do so much for our community,” he said. “This tournament is a testament to the Realtors and affiliates who get involved to make positive changes with our community partners. We are very proud of that.”
The proceeds were distributed at the board’s 109th annual meeting and luncheon at the Squantum Association. The tournament was held July 14.
