Reed to speak at Thundermist annual meeting

WARWICK – U.S. Sen. Jack F. Reed will deliver a keynote speech at Thundermist Health Center’s 47th annual meeting. The meeting, 8-9:30 a.m. today, will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 801 Greenwich Ave.

During the annual meeting, Dr. Josiah D. Rich will receive the Francesco Cannistra, M.D., Memorial Award. Rich, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a practicing physician at The Miriam Hospital, has an expertise in infectious diseases and addiction.
For decades, Rich has cared for the most at-risk members of the Rhode Island community.

The Brown Medicine Family Program will receive the Community Partnership Award.
The residency program trains residents to become experts in transforming medical practices into patient-centered medical homes, addressing health disparities and developing new knowledge and skills throughout their careers.

Other speakers at the annual meeting include Timothy Henry, Thundermist’s board president; Linda Cannistra, board secretary; and Chuck Jones, Thundermist’s president and chief executive officer. U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, U.S. Rep. David Cicilline and Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian are expected to attend the event.
