Regional consumer prices rise 1.8% in November

BOSTON – The Consumer Price Index in the Northeast rose 1.8 percent over the last 12 months to 247.097 in November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.
The Northeast region includes the six New England states as well as New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Nationally, from December 2011 through November, the index for all items, including the volatile food and energy prices, increased 1.8 percent to 230.221 before seasonal adjustment.
Regionally, the energy index rose 2 percent to 244.421 in November, after rising 3.9 percent in October. Comparatively, the national energy index rose 0.3 percent to 238.946.
The housing index in the Northeast posted a 1.5 percent increase in November, and the index for transportation rose 2.7 percent.
Nationally, the housing index rose 2.2 percent and the transportation index rose 1.5 percent.
