PROVIDENCE – The Omni Group has nearly completed its renovations to a mixed-use building at 125 Atwells Ave., with 19 modernized apartments expected to become available in the spring.

The 20,000-square-foot, three-story building, to be called The Bradford, is at Atwells Avenue and Bradford Street in Federal Hill. It overlooks Garibaldi Park and is near the entrance to the Omni-owned office complex, West Exchange Center.

The ongoing renovation, which is expected to total several million dollars, will include modern updates to the one- and two-bedroom units, such as secured entrances. The retail stores on Atwells Avenue remain fully leased, according to Omni CEO Bill DiStefano.

The apartments are being marketed to graduate students and working professionals.

The Omni Group purchased the building in April 2016 for $1.2 million, according to city records. The renovation project did not receive public incentives, DiStefano said.

The building appealed to the group because it overlooks Garibaldi Park from its commercial center, at West Exchange Center. “This building had been in disrepair for years, and the opportunity came up,” he said.
