Report: Flu season costing employers

As flu season gets underway, a new report is quantifying the economic costs to businesses and employees of influenza.
The 2013 Walgreens Flu Report found that 71 percent of employees nationwide were affected by the flu last year, resulting in flu-related costs to employers of $30.4 billion. The biannual study also found that 22 percent of flu-related sick days were not compensated, employees missed an average of three days of work due to the flu, and 6.2 million Americans cancelled business strips because they were sick.
