New England Institute of Technology is building its first residence hall, a 117,000-square-foot building that will accommodate more than 400 students. The private, nonprofit college expects completion of the $35 million project in July 2017. The building will feature multiple variations of suites, individual rooms and traditional two-person rooms. Common areas will include a student lounge, study rooms and meeting rooms. The U-shaped, four-story building will be centered around a grassed courtyard. The architect is Elkus Manfredi Architects, of Boston. General contractor is Cranshaw Construction, of Newton, Mass.
