Rhode Island Day Tuesday at Big E 2016, a centennial celebration

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – During the centennial celebration of the Eastern States Exposition, Rhode Island Day will take place Tuesday, Sept. 20, and feature attractions and activities from the Ocean State.

Lara Salamano, R.I. Commerce Corp. chief marketing officer, said, “the Big E is the perfect opportunity to showcase the best of Rhode Island.”

The day-long schedule includes the cutting of an Allie’s donut cake, pumpkin carving such as is done yearly at the Roger Williams Park Zoo and performances by the Mount Hope, Scituate and Portsmouth High School bands.

Festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. at the fairgrounds, 1305 Memorial Ave., West Springfield, Mass., and wrap up at 9 p.m.
