Rhode Island Foundation offering lobbying workshop

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Foundation is offering a workshop on advocacy and lobbying for nonprofits on March 24.
The informational session will cover Rhode Island lobbying activity, registering nonprofit members to vote and tax information for nonprofits. In-depth details about the process of lobbying will be provided. Tax information will include coverage of state reporting requirements for those nonprofits engaged in lobbying in Rhode Island.
“In an election year, it is critical that nonprofits are up to date on the rules and guidelines for lobbying and advocacy around their causes and stakeholders,” said Jill Pfitzenmayer, vice president of the foundation’s Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence. “Our workshop will help them stay within the state guidelines while still finding effective and appropriate outlets for getting their message out.”
Presenters include Stacy DiCola, director of public information at the Department of State; Greg McBurney, deputy director of elections, or Norelys Consuegra, deputy director of elections; and attorney Everett A. Petronio Jr., of Kalander & Shaw Ltd.
The event, scheduled for 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the foundation’s offices at 1 Union Station, is capped at 50 participants.
