Dr. Timothy J. Babineau, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital and president and CEO of Lifespan, recently hosted 600 guests during the President’s Pursuit of Excellence Dinner.
The evening celebrated the successes of the past year and Babineau also recognized Dr. Arun K. Singh as a Lifetime Champion, Scott and Monica Laurens as Individual Champions and the lifestyle retail company, Alex and Ani, with the Corporate Champion award.
Dr. Arun K. Singh has performed more than 18,000 open-heart surgeries for adults and children during his career and he is also a clinical professor of surgery at Brown University.
The Laurens family has been committed to Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital for more than 25 years, serving on the board of directors since its formation in 1994.
Alex and Ani co-founder, Creative Director and CEO Carolyn Rafaelian created the Hero Bangle as a part of the company’s Charity by Design initiative in 2011 and since then, she has maintained a strong philanthropic relationship with the hospital.
The dinner was held at the Omni Providence Hotel and proceeds will benefit education, research and patient care at Rhode Island Hospital. •
