Rhode Island Housing issues call for nominations

for Partners in Housing Awards

Providence, R.I. (Feb. 24, 2012) – Rhode Island Housing is seeking nominations for its 2012 Partners in Housing awards, which recognize outstanding commitment to affordable homes for Rhode Islanders.

All nominees exemplify dedication and commitment to ensuring affordable, safe and healthy homes in Rhode Island, and they fit into the following categories:

• Public Service recognizes elected state officials or their staff.

• Municipal honors a town, individual or department.

• Nonprofit salutes Community Development Corporations, homeownership or rental developments and agencies/organizations.

• Private Sector identifies developers, financial institutions and the real estate community.

• KeepSpace Partner celebrates individuals, organizations or developers who embody KeepSpace's widely inclusive partnership initiative to change the way we think about, build and approach "community."

“These awards identify, celebrate and showcase the innovative work and many success stories associated with the creation of affordable homes in our state,” said Richard Godfrey, Executive Director of Rhode Island Housing. “The recipient of a Partner in Housing award represents the hundreds of nonprofits, developers, advocates, public agencies and volunteers who are necessary to ensuring safe and healthy homes for all Rhode Islanders.”

The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 23. To nominate an organization, individual, board of directors, corporations, agency, program and/or development for an award send a brief description explaining why they should be recognized to Tricia Foster, Rhode Island Housing, 44 Washington St., Providence, R.I. 02903 or email: Communications@rhodeislandhousing.org.

The awards will be given out on May 10 at 3 p.m. during a ceremony at the State House.
