Rhode Island Medical Imaging acquires Radiology Associates

EAST PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Medical Imaging has acquired Radiology Associates, a radiology practice.
The new RIMI locations as a result of this acquisition are in East Providence at the Metacomet Office Park, in Providence at the Bayside Medical Center, and in Warwick on Centerville Road. RIMI now has a total of 11 outpatient imaging centers throughout Rhode Island, according to a news release about the acquisition. Terms were not disclosed.
“The opportunity to join Rhode Island Medical Imaging is the best thing for our patients,” Dr. Vincent DeCesaris, president of Radiology Associates, said in a statement. “My partners and I have built this practice from the ground up and pride ourselves with providing exceptional service for the people of Rhode Island and their physicians. Joining RIMI was a logical choice for us given our shared focus on quality of care and the challenges smaller medical groups now face in the current health care environment. Both groups have been part of the Rhode Island health care community for many years, and we expect this to continue well into the future.”
Dr. John Pezzullo, president of Rhode Island Medical Imaging, said Radiology Associates “has a wonderful reputation for mammography services … we hope to earn the trust that will allow patients to continue their care with RIMI.”
The formal changeover from Radiology Associates to RIMI will happen during the first week of December.
RIMI intends to keep the three Radiology Associates locations operational, although the service lines offered at each location may change. Patients who have had previous exams at Radiology Associates will be able to call RIMI scheduling and make appointments; their previous records will be available.
