PROVIDENCE – U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell recently announced that the Rhode Island Quality Institute has been selected to receive up to $8.3 million over the next four years to give technical assistance to Ocean State clinicians.

The funds will be used by the institute to provide clinicians with tools, information and network support, and to increase patient access to information, with the ultimate goal of improving care.

“Supporting doctors and other health care professionals to change the way they work is critical to improving quality and spending our health care dollars more wisely,” said Burwell.

The Rhode Island Quality Institute becomes one of 39 health care collaborative networks in the country to participate in Health and Human Services’ Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative.

“This four year award will allow us to significantly strengthen and expand the support we’ve been able to offer providers through RIQI’s Regional Extension Center and to lever CurrentCare’s data-sharing capabilities to achieve the triple aim of better health, better health care and lower per capita costs,” said Laura Adams, president and CEO of RIQI.
