PROVIDENCE – Launched five years ago by Preserve Rhode Island, Rhody Ramble is an online resource for families looking for child-friendly activities at historic sites across the state.

Among the historic locations are 31 members of the Historic Sites Coalition of Rhode Island, including Lincoln’s Arnold House, Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol, The Breakers in Newport, Wickford’s Smith’s Castle and Mount Hope Farm in Bristol.

The schedule of events, which run through December, features concerts, scavenger hunts, fairs, re-enactments, special tours, craft activities and outdoor walks. Some of the highlighted events include Casey Farm’s Nature Walks (Oct. 8) and the Museum of Natural History’s Fossil Frenzy Weekend (Oct. 8-9).

These activities are designed to be affordable for Rhode Island families and, while some are free of charge, most admission prices are less than $10.
