Rite Aid opens more Wellness Stores

WARWICK – A remodeled Rite Aid Wellness Store at 1080 Bald Hill Road held its grand opening event on July 14, part of national effort by national drug store chain to promote wellness services and products. The Warwick location is the second Wellness Store in Rhode Island; the first was opened in May at 1086 Willett Avenue in East Providence.
Nationally, Rite Aid has 423 Wellness Stores in operation and plans to have 780 by the end of its fiscal year, according to Rite Aid spokesman Eric Harkreader.
At the grand opening, Rite Aid offered free health screenings, including:

  • Cholesterol testing.
  • Blood glucose testing.
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease assessments.
  • Memory impairment assessments.
  • Blood pressure readings.
  • Diabetes risk assessments.
The grand opening also featured Rite Aid Wellness Ambassadors, who provided interactive demos on customized iPads. These new positions are a big differentiator of the new Wellness Stores from many other drugstores in the market place, according to Harkreader. “Wellness Ambassadors provide information to customers and act as a bridge from the front end to the pharmacy, where pharmacists are available to offer clinical advice and help customers select the right products for their specific needs,” Harkreader said.
