Rockland sponsors advancing Women’s Excellence Program

WARWICK – This year marks the fourth consecutive year that Rockland Trust has acted as lead sponsor of the Advancing Women’s Excellence conference, which Leading Women presented at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Providence-Warwick in Warwick last Thursday, June 14.

More than 200 businesswomen attended the conference, with about 50 able to attend free of cost thanks to Rockland’s sponsorship.

The conference is to help assist female business entrepreneurs, many of whom are also minorities and many of whom are from low-income communities. The program helps with business skills training and the opportunity for networking with established women business leaders, through a $10,000 investment made through the New Markets Tax Credit program.

Mike Savage and George Couto introduced the New Markets Tax Credit funding group at the conference, designed to spur new or increased investments into businesses and real estate projects located in low-income communities.
