Ronald McDonald House BBQ raises $150K

PROVIDENCE – A “Backyard BBQ” was hosted by the Ronald McDonald House of Providence on July 8 with the aim of raising funds to supplement the cost of lodging families with sick children. More than $150,000 was raised.

Michael Fantom, CEO of the Ronald McDonald House of Providence, thanked the community for its support. He said: “We’re thrilled that our campaign to expand our local facility and serve more families in need is nearly complete, and we sincerely thank all of our friends and supporters for helping to make this expansion happen.”

The event highlighted the “Always Room at the House” campaign, which will add 10 bedrooms to the facility and increase the organization’s outreach by an additional 130 families annually. To date, the campaign has raised $4.88 million and received contributions from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England, The Champlin Foundations, Rhode Island District Lions, McLaughlin & Moran, Cardi’s Furniture, Shriners of Rhode Island, Suzanne & Terrence Murray & the Murray Family Charitable Foundation, Malcolm G. Chace Jr. Family, The Edward J. & Virginia M. Routhier Foundation, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas & Cathy Ryan, The Providence Journal Charitable Legacy Fund, The Provenzano Family, Bob & Mary Higgins, Navigant Credit Union and Gilbane, among others.

Between now and Sept. 31, every donation made to the “Always Room at the House” campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $250,000 by The Champlin Foundations
