Roofing company supports Autism Speaks annual walk

M. Weisman Roofing recently donated time and money to support efforts to change the future for those with autism.
In honor of the 2012 Southern New England Walk Now for Autism Speaks, the company donated $3,000 to the organization, underwrote T-shirts and sponsored a water station for walkers. In addition, Weisman Roofing put a team together to participate in the walk, raising an additional several thousand dollars.
The 1.5-mile walk was held at Colt State Park in Bristol, and featured live entertainment, carnival games, a resource fair and more. It was one of many regional events held in the United States and Canada that serve as the signature fundraising event for Autism Speaks. In addition to raising funds for research, the walks are designed to help to raise awareness.
The cause was important to the staff at Weisman Roofing, and particularly to its president and owner, Eric Mounsey. Mounsey’s son was diagnosed with autism during the last year.
The company, based in Warwick, said it is committed to partnering with Autism Speaks to achieve its mission. •
