Royal Australian Navy upgrading Paluma-class vessels with FarSounder sonars

WARWICK – FarSounder Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide four FarSounder-1000 systems, along with spare parts, to upgrade four Paluma-class vessels operated by the Royal Australian Navy.
Seismic Asia Pacific Pty. Ltd. of Salisbury, Australia, will purchase the equipment and assist with the systems integration. This company is also the FarSounder dealer for the project with BAE Systems as the prime contractor.
“The FarSounder team is proud to be a part of this upgrade program for the RAN fleet,” FarSounder Vice President of Engineering Matthew Zimmerman said in a statement. “We appreciate our inclusion and that our products are recognized for the benefit they bring to this class of vessels.”
The four vessels are designed for operations in the shallow waters of northern Australia.
