“The programs they offer can help companies looking to do business with the federal government, especially with the Department of Defense,” said U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, who is a member of the Armed Services Committee.

Reed met with the program sponsors at Pilgrim Screw for a morning tour of the facilities. The company specializes in aerospace and defense fasteners.

“We want to ensure that more Rhode Island companies like Pilgrim Screw can compete and succeed,” Reed said.

The workshops will be held around the state and will encourage more small businesses to get involved in government contracting, according to the release.

“We know that this will be a springboard for many opportunities in federal, state and local contracting,” said Marcel Valois, Commerce RI executive director.
