SEA Corp. part of team to receive $55M contract for Navy sub work

MIDDLETOWN – Systems Engineering Associates Corp. is part of a team that has been awarded a $55 million Naval Sea Systems Command contract for submarine work.
Through the five-year contract, SEA Corp. will work alongside Manassas, Va.-based Progeny Systems Corp. and Middletown-based Mikel Inc. on design, development, testing and delivery of the Payload Control System portion of the AN/BYG-1 submarine combat control system for U.S. Navy submarines that are in-service and being constructed.
“SEA Corp. is excited to have the opportunity to continue to support NAVSEA and the AN/BYG-1 program. This contract is a result of the knowledge, hard work and dedication of SEA Corp. personnel and the entire Progeny team on [combat control system] efforts over the past several decades,” Dave Cadorette, SEA Corp.’s senior vice president, said in a statement.
The AN/BYG-1 program features software and hardware upgrades to improve tactical and weapons control capabilities on submarines. Submarines equipped with the AN/BYG-1 combat control system are able to analyze submarine sensor contact information in open ocean and areas near the shore, according to information from the U.S. Navy.
SEA Corp., which employs approximately 400, provides systems and engineering services primarily to government customers.
